Adding some new material.....

Ok, so I was sitting here thinking today. It's Sunday, by the way...

I have a lot of people and places that inspire me and a lot of writings that I find motivational and inspirational, of course. But I wanted a way to start sharing some of that on my blog.

I'm going to start slowly by adding daily quotes to the blog. Now, up 'till this point, anything that has been posted has been my work. Starting tomorrow, Feb. 1, 2010, I will begin to post other material along with my work. However, any work posted by me that is not of my own will be credited with a link to the original artist, should this be possible.

I will start posting daily quotes that I think are good and great and that I feel inspire me.

Happy writing.

The Red Line

The tension is thick and the pain is real
as I sing the Red line blues.

Death is upon us until we pass by
the place where 9 people died.

Beautiful, June innocence in the purest sense.
You took them in a blink of your eyes, you stupid Red line.

7 months past and I can still hear the roll call
At this point, its always hard to think within Metro's claws.

I can see the image of your train colliding with time;
and time won.
How rude it is! It never even mentioned the likes of your son!

Such a beast it is.
It waits for no one and takes no prisoners.
All we can hope is that you're somewhere beautiful.

From there, my friend Nikki lives and will grow old.
And I will never forget your last ride on the Metro.

Adoption

Beauty and the beast

This is a modern remastering and digital reprint of a classic.
In the hopeful eyes of a child, a product of adoption.

A newcomer to life, rather unwillingly and innocently. As a young, horribly unable couple race to find a suitable family. This ultra-heavy feeling weighs a ton on our shoulders as parents. How I could ever consider adoption as apparant; a way out, not for we, but she. The baby.

As we fight fierce finances and battle acute personality conflicts and regretfulness, stupid debt and crazy deception. It shows us examples of youthful ignorance and parental apprenticeship.
Enter - adoption.

But still never escaping the total consequence, b
ecause now it resides in my conscious.

Our unstable, unflatterig residence. In lunar time we are light years away from a capable hospice. Life laughs at us regularly...

My new daughter, too ignorant to the world to see any issues involving materiality and maturity. But to me this whole idea is a nightmare. I'm sure to be punished for the ultimate wrong in my coming cessation. A life ending separation. Dissolution of man, woman and innocent. All the while hoping our child remembers this, the love.

Grow up to understand this was for no other reason but to secure your future, your life.
To be brilliant and bright

Forever in your endeavors,
We both love you.

My Clock With No Hands

I have a clock with no hands.
It hangs on my wall and so my time is infinite.

You can never take it away from me.
You must be insane; this is complete insanity.

I have total control.
I can even do a hand stand with one finger on one hand
In front of my clock with no hands.

But I digress.

I am an old man inside but I am only 25.
Even still, my soul I cannot hide.
If it's old then it's old, I cannot lie.

They say I have a good 50 years left, me being a young man.
But the way I see it, I have a clock with no hands.

Your end is inevitable, says Reality.
But my clock says i'm supreme in actuality.

And so I know I have total control.
I can even fly through this traffic jam
For my clock with no hands

And BAM!

Reality Strikes.
R.I.P. ignorance.

The Great Battle

Let's begin by thinking about animals in an impoverished section of the inner city of Washington, D.C.:

The fat cats
The rats

Who do you think will win this battle?
The rats, as they are too slick and fast for the fat ol' cats.

Now let's associate this question with people in an impoverished section of the inner city of Washington, D.C.:

The fat cats
The rats

Who do you think wins this battle?
The rats because the fat cats are nowhere to be found.

It's On Again

Sadness returns to envelop the great spirit in us.
Attitudes decline as our reasoning turns to dust.
It hides within us, too scared to fight.
Unknowingly affecting our will for life.

But what an amazing thing it is, this spirit.
For one day it shall rise again for all to hear it.
With a voice as loud as the light of the Sun,
My sadness retreats under the heat of a gun.

Only to return if given the right opportunity.
But I will be ready next time, for this battle is not new to me.

Weekly TPS Challenge Entry: The Trapper

My entry in the Weekly TPS Challenge @ The Poetry Sanctuary.
The subject was Carpe diem.

A whole new a.m., an ambitious day begins.
For him, a new birth from yesterday's fruition.

Today may he be influential in his endeavors;
In the same, supreme way our oceans influence the weather.

The appeal of a man that would choose now over when-ever.
Who will do what he has to to conquer the day;
uninhibited and brave.

He will never let it escape,
for his job is to capture today.

A Poem for My Unborn

I love you and you're not even here yet.
But you will be in June, so i'll see you soon.

I don't know your name, I don't know your sex.
But I love the suprise, that part is the best.

I can't wait to see you and I promise I won't leave you.
I don't know my father, so a father I will be to you.

You have changed my life and only for the good.
You put me in a nice place, way away from the neighborhood.

You make me work harder than I normally would.
Because I want you to have everything I wish I could.

And if there's anything I can do for you once you arrive.
Just know that I am here to provide unto my demise.

For you I live and I die.
And please forgive me if I cry.

I love you.

Life > Tragedy

Lately, the news has been increasingly sad and horrific. However, sad news at times can denote tragedy. So it remains a necessary evil.

I mean, should we turn our heads in denial and act as if we live segregated from danger, from life? Our biological clock is forever ticking until it stops; sometimes abruptly. Are you ready?

I think the sooner we accept life as consisting equally of the positive and negative, the sooner we can begin to cope with tragedy.

But how?

How does someone learn to smile again after being engulfed in poverty, haunted by torture or even surrounded by death?

It's something you must live, I think.

The world is large and is far from perfect. You must take someone else's misfortune, their story; soak it in, learn with it and grow from it. Accept it for what it is and live opposite from it, because safety is not guaranteed in life.

It is not so much which cards you are dealt, but how you play those cards. Take what you have in hand and make the best of it. We cannot predict the future but we can definately plan for it.
Smile and try to be happy in life, as it is not promised tomorrow.

Aim for the stars, for there's none too high.

Lady Friend

Paradise to me is just us
To me is all trust

No clouds, only open sky
Relaxing with this lady friend of mine

Paradise on the furthest of islands
The furthest of time zones
Illimitable, forever, timeless

Leaving the rest behind
To be lax with this lady friend of mine

Paradise is to sip a little wine
Just enough to stimulate our minds

As we, together, climb and climb
We reach the highest climax in life
A paradise so special, most can't even climb that high

Let's descend together in union
Lay together, heart beats in unison

A paradise with only good dreams in mind
About this wonderful lady friend of mine

Like a blue ocean over white sand
The right girl with the right man
Hand in hand, infinitely in time

Marriage now would be complete paradise
Please say yes, lady friend of mine

Your Eyes

For now I say goodbye blue sky.
As evening approaches, the sun sets and dissapears in your eyes.
The reflection eternal.

No beauty dare escape your grip.
I can feel my whole world inside your lips.
You should kiss me again.

Dare push me away, I shall return,
to the place I once earned your love.

Never to leave again.
Because life is most beautiful in the arms of my best friend.

A Woman

I have a woman.
She helps me smile; she helps me frown.

She remains my queen, my equal.
In life and in my dreams of non-fiction reality.

May she bear my child now, for she is my style, my type.
Not as artificial but as natural light is her smile just as bright.

Always cool and relaxed as if she was chilled on ice.

Still calm and just as nice as she could be.
True to me, she looks, walks and talks beautifully.

I know I love her, my woman.
No one above her.

For you, Miss Natasha.
